1. What is an aluminum brass pipe/tube?
Aluminum brass is a complex brass with aluminum as the main added element. The main alloy of aluminum brass is composed of copper (Cu)-zinc (Zn)-aluminum (Al). In practical applications, in order to improve the strength, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance of aluminum brass, As and Mn are often added to the alloy, Fe iron, tin Sn, Co cobalt, nickel Ni, and other elements, thereby improving the overall performance of the material.
Due to the aluminum-zinc equivalent coefficient, the tendency to form B phase is greater and the strengthening effect is good. When the aluminum content increases, the Y phase will appear. Although the hardness of the alloy is increased, the plasticity is also drastically reduced.
The surface ionization tendency of aluminum in aluminum brass is relatively large, and a dense and hard aluminum oxide film is preferentially formed to prevent further oxidation of the alloy and improve the corrosion resistance to gases, and solutions, especially high-speed seawater.
Aluminum brass pipe is a commonly used copper alloy pipe with excellent performance and wide application characteristics. During use, the performance of aluminum brass tubes will decrease due to various reasons, so heat treatment is required to improve its performance.
Aluminum brass properties
