1. What is aluminum alloy 7075 (UNS A97075)
Superior to mild steel, the 7075 (UNS A97075) aluminum alloy is a high-strength, cold-processed, forged alloy. One of the strong alloys that are readily available in commerce is 7075 (UNS A97075): positive response, good mechanical qualities, and general corrosion resistance. Deep hole drilling improves tool wear resistance, and thread rolling is more noticeable when using refined grains.
The primary alloying component of 7075 (UNS A97075) is zinc. When magnesium is added to an alloy that contains between 3% and 7.5% zinc, MgZn2 is formed, which has a strong strengthening effect. This improves the alloy's heat treatment effect significantly above that of an aluminum-zinc binary alloy. The alloy's tensile strength will increase further as its zinc and magnesium concentration rises, but its resistance to stress corrosion and spalling corrosion will decline. Very high strength qualities can be attained after heat treatment.
The 7075 material is typically mixed with trace amounts of copper, chromium, and other alloys. The best and most expensive aluminum alloy is 7075-T651, which is one of them. It is stronger than any low-carbon steel and has a high strength. This alloy reacts favorably and has good mechanical qualities. The fabrication of aircraft structures and other high-stress structures that demand high strength and great corrosion resistance are representative uses, as are those in aerospace, mold processing, mechanical equipment, and fittings.
