1. What is a brass sheet/plate
Copper plates are frequently used in brass plates. The brass plate offers good machinability and mechanical characteristics. It can endure processing under both hot and cold pressure. Gaskets, bushings, and other structural pieces that require cutting and stamping use it.
High corrosion resistance, outstanding mechanical qualities, and good pressure processability under cold and hot circumstances are all characteristics of tin brass plates. Brass plates can be utilized for catheters, steam, oil, and other media-contact parts on ships, as well as other corrosion-resistant applications.
The brass plate production process mainly has the following five points:
1. Ingot heating. High temperatures can easily "dezincify" high-zinc brass, and some complicated brasses have significant casting stresses. As a result, the majority of brass is not appropriate for intense heating. The furnace's environment should be mildly oxidizing.
2. Rolling hot. At high temperatures, some brasses (such as high-zinc brass, etc.) also have a brittle phase in addition to the phase. Hot rolling must stay out of the brittle temperature range to prevent cracks. Some complex brass, like lead brass, has limited high-temperature plasticity, so the temperature range of hot-rolling is narrow.
To implement rapid rolling, pay attention to the temperature drop of the brass plate. Low-zinc simple brass (such as H96, H90, etc.) has a better shape and can be hot-rolled over a wider temperature range.
3. Cold rolling. Simple brass also has quite good plasticity, and the processing rate can reach more than 75%, while most complex brass have poor plasticity, and some processing rates are less than 50%. Therefore, a margin should be left when designing the total processing rate to avoid edge cracking and belt breakage.
4. Annealing. Some brass (such as HPb59-1, H62, etc.) are sensitive to internal stress and should be annealed within 24 hours after cold working to avoid cracking or deformation (such as warping) due to large internal stress. For high-zinc brass, the annealing temperature should be lowered to prevent high-temperature dezincification and "pitting" defects in the product. Because the zinc in the brass plate also has a degassing effect during casting, the gas content in the metal is less, so it is higher during annealing.
5. Cleaning and finishing. When pickling engraved copper plates, the acid concentration should not be too high and the time should not be too long to avoid "dezincification" of the pickled surface. High-zinc brass hard products and semi-hard products should not be straightened repeatedly, otherwise, they must be stress-relieved and annealed in time.
