6. Applications and characteristics of aluminum alloy tubing & tubes 7075 (UNS A97075)
7075 materials usually add some copper, chromium, and other alloys. A7075 aluminum alloy is the best in this series and is regarded as the best product among aluminum alloys. It has high strength and far exceeds any mild steel. This alloy also has excellent mechanical and anodic reactions.
Zinc is the main alloy element of 7075. Adding magnesium to an alloy containing 3%-7.5% zinc can form MgZn2 with a significant strengthening effect, making the heat treatment effect of this alloy far better than that of an aluminum-zinc binary alloy. Increasing the zinc and magnesium content of the alloy will further increase the tensile strength, but its resistance to stress corrosion and spalling corrosion will decrease.
Very high strength qualities can be attained after heat treatment. The 7075 material is typically mixed with trace amounts of copper, chromium, and other alloys. The best and most expensive aluminum alloy is 7075-T651, which is one of them. It is stronger than any low-carbon steel and has high strength.
This alloy reacts favorably and has good mechanical qualities. The fabrication of aircraft structures and other high-stress structures that demand high strength and great corrosion resistance are representative uses, as are those in aerospace, mold processing, mechanical equipment, and fittings.
