1. What is aluminum alloy 2017A
Aluminum alloy 2017A (AlCu5MgSi(A)) is a high-strength aluminum alloy material, also known as 2017 aluminum alloy. It is a typical hard aluminum alloy in the aluminum-copper-magnesium system and also contains a small amount of manganese, silicon, and iron. Impurity elements have reasonable composition and good overall performance. Many countries produce this alloy, which is the most widely used among hard aluminum.
The characteristics of this aluminum plate alloy are: high strength, and certain heat resistance, and can be used as working parts below 150°C. At temperatures above 125°C, the strength of the 2017 alloy is higher than that of the 7075 alloy aluminum plate. The formability is relatively good in the hot state, annealed, and newly quenched states and the heat treatment strengthening effect is significant, but the heat treatment process requirements are strict. The corrosion resistance is poor, but it can be effectively protected by coating with pure aluminum; cracks are prone to occur during welding, but special processes can be used to weld or rivet. Used in aircraft structures, rivets, truck wheels, propeller components, and a variety of other structural parts.
