1. What is an Incoloy 800(N08800) bar/rod?
Incoloy 800 (UNS N08800/W.Nr. 1.4876) is a widely used material used in the construction of equipment requiring corrosion resistance, heat resistance, strength, and stability, with service temperatures up to 1500°F (816°C). Alloy 800 has moderate corrosion resistance to many aqueous media and, due to its nickel content, is resistant to stress corrosion cracking. At high temperatures, it provides resistance to oxidation, carburization, and vulcanization as well as durability and creep strength. For applications requiring greater resistance to stress fracture and creep, particularly at temperatures above 1500°F (816°C), 800H and 800HT ferrochromium alloys are used.
Features of Incoloy800
High-temperature resistance: Incoloy800 maintains good strength and plasticity at high temperatures, with long-term use temperatures up to 870°C. In addition, the alloy also has good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance.
Strength and plasticity: Incoloy800 has good mechanical properties and can be processed through various processing methods such as forming cold working, and hot working.
Oxidation resistance: Incoloy800 has a dense internal structure, smooth surface, and strong oxidation resistance. It can effectively prevent erosion by high-temperature air, water vapor, high-temperature hydrochloric acid, and other media.
Corrosion resistance: Incoloy800 has good corrosion resistance, especially to strong reducing media.
Low-Stress Corrosion Cracking: Incoloy800’s chemical composition and internal structural design make it resistant to stress corrosion cracking.

2. Ductility: Incoloy800 has good ductility and can maintain a certain plastic deformation ability at high temperatures. Its elongation at break is typically 30% or higher at room temperature while maintaining high ductility at high temperatures.
3. Hardness: Incoloy800 has moderate hardness and provides good scratch and wear resistance. Its hardness is typically 120 to 140 HB at room temperature.
4. Creep performance: Incoloy800 has good creep resistance at high temperatures and can withstand creep deformation when exposed to high temperatures and high-stress environments for a long time. It generally has a longer creep life and higher creep strength.
5. High-temperature stability: Incoloy800 maintains good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in high-temperature environments, and the maximum operating temperature can reach 1100°C.
6. Good corrosion resistance: Incoloy800 has good corrosion resistance in corrosive environments such as strong acids and strong alkalis.
7. Magnetic properties: Incoloy800 has low magnetic permeability and is suitable for situations where non-magnetic materials are required.
8. Dimensional stability: Incoloy800 can maintain dimensional stability at high temperatures and is not prone to deformation and breakage.
Incoloy800 thermal processing
1. The temperature range is 1200℃~950℃, and the cooling method is water quenching or rapid air cooling.
2. In order to obtain the best performance and creep resistance, solution treatment must be carried out after thermal processing.
3. The material can be directly fed into a furnace that has been heated to 1200°C, kept warm for a sufficient time, and then quickly discharged from the furnace for thermal processing within the specified temperature range.
When the material temperature drops below the thermal processing temperature, it needs to be reheated.
Incoloy800 cold processing
1. The work hardening rate is greater than that of austenitic stainless steel, so processing equipment needs to be selected.
Cold-worked materials should be in a solution heat-treated state, and intermediate annealing should be performed when the amount of cold work is large.
2. If the amount of cold working is greater than 10%, the workpiece needs to be subjected to secondary solution treatment.

6. Applications and characteristics of Incoloy 800 bar/rod
Performance characteristics of Incoloy 800 bar/rod steel
Due to its many distinctive qualities, in high-temperature situations, Incoloy 800 is frequently employed. First of all, it has great oxidation resistance and can function steadily for a long time at high temperatures. Second, it has exceptional corrosion resistance and can withstand both alkaline and acidic media erosion. The substance also exhibits strong resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and stress corrosion cracking.
Many corrosive media are resistant to Incoloy 800. Due to its high nickel concentration, it resists stress corrosion cracking in harsh aqueous environments quite well. It is more resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion cracking due to the high chromium content. Although this alloy has low corrosion resistance to sulfuric and hydrochloric acids, it has considerable corrosion resistance to nitric and organic acids. It has strong corrosion resistance in oxidizing and non-oxidizing salts in addition to the potential for pitting corrosion in halides. Additionally, it has good corrosion resistance in water, steam, and steam, air, and carbon dioxide mixes.
