1. What is a Monel 400(N04400) bar/rod?
Monel 400 is a corrosion-resistant alloy with the largest dosage, a wide range of uses, and excellent comprehensive properties. Monel 400 is a solid solution alloy that can only be hardened by cold working.
It exhibits great resistance to a variety of corrosive media situations and high strength and toughness over a broad temperature range. The use of alloy 400 is widespread, particularly in the chemical and maritime industries. Pumps and drive shafts, marine fixtures and fasteners, electrical and electronic parts, springs, chemical processing machinery, fresh and saltwater tanks, crude oil stills, pressure vessels, and piping, boiler feed water heaters, as well as other heat exchangers and deaeration heaters, are some examples of typical applications. With its strong mechanical qualities and good corrosion resistance in a variety of hostile conditions, monel alloy has found widespread use.
2. Chemical composition of Monel 400(N04400) bar/rod
Monel400 alloy's primary chemical components are 30% Cu and 65% Ni, with a trace quantity of Fe (1%–2%) being present. A typical single-phase austenite structure describes the organizational structure. There is typically no intermetallic phase precipitation since nickel and copper are soluble in any ratio.
It is possible to discern that the austenite matrix of this alloy contains very dispersed non-metallic inclusions, such as sulfides and silicates, under non-etching conditions using a metallographic microscope. Additionally, the existence of carbides may be seen under specific circumstances. It can come in a range of alloy grades due to variations in chemical makeup, although there aren't any really noticeable distinctions in how well they resist corrosion. In comparison to pure nickel and pure copper, the monel400 alloy is more resistant to corrosion when exposed to reducing and oxidizing environments, respectively.

3. Mechanical properties of Monel 400(N04400) bar/rod
Excellent mechanical qualities are also present in the alloy Monel 400 at high temperatures. The yield strength and tensile strength of the Monel 400 alloy rise at high temperatures, but the elongation falls in tandem. For instance, the yield strength, tensile strength, and elongation of the alloy Monel 400 at 600 °C are 130 MPa, 370 MPa, and 25%, respectively.
